Rift Labs wins first prize at the International Lucie Tech Awards 2021

Oslo, 15th   November 2021

Rift Labs AS announced today that they have won the “Oscar” statuette from this year’s Lucie Tech Awards 2021 in the category for Best Constant Light Source with the Luxli Fiddle.

The jury said: “The winner is the best of the best of what the entire global film and video lighting industry has come up with over the last year.”

The Norwegian technology company has for several years exported Norwegian-made lamps to the film and video industry in the USA and have gradually managed to consolidate a strong position in the professional market based on its patented method of controlling light of different wavelengths with a remarkably high degree of precision.

The award confirms both the high quality of the lights and the uniqueness of the technology, which has also made the products highly sought after by photographers and film producers.

“Many who start out with photography and film production will often be extremely focused on the quality of their camera equipment. Of course, while this is particularly important, it does not take long to realize that even with the best camera in the world, you only get so far without proper lighting. The reason for this is that you end up having to correct a lot in post-production, where every single correction degrades the image quality. Therefore, it is essential to do as much right as possible already during recording, something which our lighting technology makes possible.” – Halvard Aagaard, CEO of Rift Labs

Rift Labs takes first place ahead of Orbiter, the flagship of German powerhouse ARRI, a name that most people in the industry will recognize.

It is not obvious that a small industrial company on the outskirts of Oslo succeeds in this international and competitive market. Especially at a time when Hollywood and the entire American entertainment industry have been strongly affected by the pandemic, with full closure at times, even though Rift Labs has focused on smaller productions and therefore has not been affected to the same degree.

Halvard Aagaard, CEO of Rift Labs, says:

 – “Of course, it has taken many years of hard work to get to where we are today, and there have been both ups and downs throughout. I think one of the things that has made us successful is that while many others have focused on Excel spreadsheets, we have immersed ourselves in innovation and the development of technology. This has enabled us to stay ahead of our competitors, and of course, also enabled us to create some pretty awesome lights.”
